I need a solution

Can GCO support following:

Multiple cluster at primary site with only one one node cluster at secondary site.

normally we setup GCO with one cluster at primary site (cluster A) and one cluster at secondary site(cluster B), and culster A and Cluster B configure to be a Global cluster.

what if I have multiple primary clusters and just only have one one node cluster secondary, Can GCO support this kind of configuration?

Thanks

Allen

Environment

SFHA = 6.2

Cluster nodes = 2  (local cluster)

OS = Solaris 10 SPARC

SAN storage connectivity = Dual Fiber cables (DMP installed)

Application = Custom made application with Start/Stop and Monitor process in placed (configured the attributes)under the Java console. Complete application is copied under Mount point (Mount resource)

WE ARE ASUMING THAT CLUSTER SENCE FIRST THE APPLICATION FAILURE INSTEAD OF DISKGROUP AND EXECUTE FAILURE

App shows faulted instead of dg and mount_0.JPG

Query

We are performing a test case in which we are plugging out both fiber cables for SAN connectivity. Instead of Diskgroup or Mount resources crash, we are noticing our Application resource getting crash

I need a solution

I disabled my application resources(rs-app-db-004   and rs-app-rm-004)  for some testing purpose in a service group and saved the changes in the main.cf file.

Now this application resource is on top of the tree and no other resource depends on this. I made the service group offline and then disabled the resources using below command. Then when i tried  to bring the service group ONLINE, it threw the error "VCS NOTICE V-16-1-50036 There are no enabled resources in the group SG-APP-DS_RM-004 to online"

I am using version 5.1

Now i need inputs on below points.

1) Is it necessary that atleast one application resource should be Enabled in a service group?

2) Other resources like IP,mount are enabled then why is it throwing an error "There are no enabled resources"

3) is it a bug or am i missing any point.

Looking forward for your feedback.

I need a solution

Hi all,

I've found a problem after create a resource to mount ext3 device.

   Mount dNFS_Mount (
                MountPoint = "/share"
                BlockDevice = vg_fs_cal-lv_fs_cal
                FSType = ext3
                MountOpt = noatime
                FsckOpt = "-y"
                )

In fact the vg_fs_cal-lv_fs_cal exists if i activate the Vg using,

vgchange -ay vg_fs_cal

I can do it manually but veritas cant mount it and the resource always fail.

What can i Check, the log only show this, but if list the device exits

Mount:dNFS_Mount:online:Block device vg_fs_cal-lv_fs_cal does not exist

What can i check? What is wrong in device creation?

I need a solution

Environment

SFHA version = 6.1

OS = win2008R2

Cluster nodes = 2

VOM version = 6.1

After a long time I am using VOM. I am able to see that the Cluster Service group is showing online (with blue color) on one node and showing offline (with gray color) on another cluster node. However when I see the SQL Server service group, the Service Group shows online (with blue color) on both nodes. What I am missing ? See the below snaps for reference.

Please note: SQL Server service group is showing perfect when I see via Java Console(means  the SQL service group shows online on one system and offline on other system)

Dears,

I am facing a weired behaviour in my cluster 6.1 , i created a files under the mount point in the first node and failover to second node, when i checked the same mount point there i found that my files are not exists ,but when i failover back to node1 i can see them again, do you have any idea about such behaviour ????????

Is it possible to have a Critical and Non-Critical application resource in the same service group

$

I need a solution

I have a requirement where I have two application resources(rs-app-db-004  and rs-app-rm-004). in the same service group but I want to make one as Non-Critical. Please be noted that both the applications share the same mount point.

My requirement is that if the Non-Critical application( rs-app-db-004) goes down, then the service group should be be partially Online and no failover should take place. The critical application should continue to function And if the Critical application(rs-app-rm-004) goes down then irrespective whether  Non-Critical application is faulted or Onilne, the whole service group should failover to  the other node. Currently both the applictaions are Critical.

Do i also need to make Non-critical resource dependent on the the Critical application? I am not sure on this as theoritically failure of critical application should failover the whole service group.

Also I want to understand is making this resource rs-app-db-004 non critical would have any implications or not during failover or elsewhere? If yes then request you to  update me on that.

Is this supported in my current version? if not then is there any patch to address this

  • The version of VERITAS  installed is  5.1SP1

I read one of the link that doing so can have implication.

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...

The dependency of the resources in the service group is shown below.

Listener resource remain faulted

I need a solution

Hello,

we are doing some failure tests for a customer. We have VCS 6.2 running on solaris 10. We have an Oracle database and of course the listener associated with it.

We try to simulate different kind of failures. One of them is to kill the listener. In this situation the cluster observes that the listener has died, and it fails over the service to the other node. BUT the listener resource will remain in FAULTED state on the original node, and the group to which belongs will be in OFFLINE FAULTED state. In this situation if something goes wrong on the second node the service will not fail back to the original one until we manually run hagrp -clear.

Is there anything we can do to fix this? (to have the clear done automatically)

Here are some lines from the log:

2015/03/30 17:26:10 VCS ERROR V-16-2-13067 (node2p) Agent is calling clean for resource(ora_listener-res) because the resource became OFFLINE unexpectedly, on its own.

in these it says that clean for the resource has completed successfully, but the resource is still faulted.

but if I run hares -clear manually, the the fault goes away.

vcsencrypt password for generic resource in VCS

I need a solution

Hi,

I have query.

I installed and configured SFHA for application server, this application server has 5 services, which is running with same user name and password under service manager.

I have configured the Generic resource for each services, however, the password is not encrypted in resource attributes. So I have used vcsencrypt utility to create the encryted password and plan to update in main.conf file.

if we run vcsencrypt utility with password same as XXXXX for number of times, each time it is giving different encrpted password.

My question is I have run vcsencrypt utility with password same as XXXXX, only one time and use the same encrypted password for all the 5 generic resource attributes or need to run 5 times the vcsencrypt utility with password same as XXXXX and update the each generic resource with seperate encrypted password.

I need a solution

Hello,

I just want to make sure what the best practice for Symantec VERITAS Cluster for Linux RedHat nodes running on HP Blade Server.

I have read "VCS considerations for Blade server environments" but i am still confused.

Kindly, find below some details :

HP Blade Virtual connect :   2 Shared uplink set  and 1 Ethernet Network

SUS 1: Uplaink A  ( using X5,X6,X7 - Interconnect Bay 1)

SUS2: Uplaink B  ( using X5,X6,X7 - Interconnect Bay 2)

Ethernet Network: Internal ( without any uplink )

Now the server profile for Linux node :

Port 1 : Uplink A    (public and lowpri)

Port 2 : Uplink B     (public and lowpri)

**** bonding is done for Port 1 and Port 2 inside the Linux

Port 3: internal (Heartbeat)

Is that consedered as Symantec Cluster best practice or not ?

Forward Traffic from VCS virtual IP

I need a solution

Hello Experts,

We have a two node active-passive VCS 6.0 cluster running in Solaris LDOM on T4-1 servers.

Two virtual interfaces (Vnet0 and Vnet1)  are configured from the control domain using igb2/igb4.

vnet0 and vnet1 using solaris ipmp. The cluster IP is configured as a virtual IP on top of vnet0 as its comes online as vnet0:1.

Out external connectivity must happen only from Cluster virtual IP on vnet01:1, but the network team informed that no traffic coming from cluster vitual IP.

The firewall only receives the packets from the host IP which was configured on vnet0. Can anyone tell me , how to configure the VCS to forward the traffic from cluster IP to only a particular destination. We have configured the resources using MutliNICB/IPMultiNICB.

Thanks

Hi Team,

Many times we face resource faults alerts on our AIX server,but when we check it shows all are running fine.

Also, when checked logs it shows not (initiated by VCS) alerts.

Our main concern is to troubleshoot, why we get these alerts and if we get these alerts then why cluster resource is not showing faulty.
